Mia Di Santo is a painter and writer based in both Los Angeles and Chicago. With a background in urban studies, Mia's paintings are a visual exploration of her push-pull relationship between the fast-paced urban environment she lives in and the remote, idealized landscapes she longs for. Originally from California, she draws great inspiration from the topography of the American Southwest. Her paintings aim for simplicity, with abstract landscapes reduced to uncomplicated shapes. Through her work, Mia attempts to better understand a person's relationship with their surroundings, what it takes to balance life in a fast-paced world, and how we often exist straddled between the urban and rural, unsure of which to call home.
